Prof. (Dr.) Ujjval J. Solanki delivered an insightful expert talk at Rajkot Municipal Corporation on “Sustainable Practice for Urban Road Construction.”
The session covered IRC-based pavement design concepts, quality control & assurance, and best construction practices for sub-grade to bituminous layers, emphasizing temperature control and compaction.
Key discussions included bitumen grade selection, white-topping, short-slab concrete pavements, and innovative solutions like Cement Grouted Bituminous Mix (CGBM) Surfacing as per IRC SP-125:2019.
Sustainable techniques and recycling methods were highlighted as vital tools to reduce material consumption and address urban drainage challenges.
The event was graced by senior officials of RMC, including Dy. Municipal Commissioner Shri Chetan Nandani Sir, City Engineers Shri Kuntal Mehta Sir & Shri Raval Sir, Dy. Executive Engineer Shri Dabhi Sir, and technical staff members.
