Frolic 2025: Seismo-Struct

  06 Sep 2025

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET) organized an event “Seismo-Struct” as part of Frolic 2025, a hands-on technical event dedicated to earthquake engineering. The competition aimed to deepen students’ understanding of structural behavior under seismic loading by challenging them to design and construct earthquake-resistant models. Participants built small-scale three-storey structures with a focus on joint strength and stability, which were subsequently tested on a Shake Table to simulate ground motions. This practical approach enabled forty-two students to observe real-time structural responses and failure mechanisms. The team of Bhojani Dhruvil and Karia Parva secured first place, showcasing exemplary design and construction skills. The event effectively promoted awareness of seismic design principles and encouraged teamwork in addressing critical civil engineering challenges.
