Workshop on "Sand Casting Process"

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DIETDS) conducted a hands-on workshop on “Sand-Casting Process” as part of its skill-development initiatives. The workshop was attended by forty-nine third-semester students and aimed to provide foundational knowledge of foundry practices. Under faculty guidance, students experienced the complete sand-casting cycle, including pattern making, mold preparation, sand preparation, metal melting, and pouring. The practical exposure helped students understand casting geometry, solidification processes, and real-world manufacturing challenges. The workshop effectively bridged theoretical concepts with practical application, enhancing students’ technical competence and reinforcing the department’s commitment to experiential and holistic engineering education.
