Seminar on "Sustainable Bituminous Technologies in Road Construction"

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET), in association with Hindustan Colas Pvt. Ltd. (HINCOL), organized a seminar on "Innovative Bituminous Application in Road Construction in a Sustainable Way". The session was delivered by Dr. Katla Bhanuprasad, the session aimed to raise awareness about the latest advancements in bituminous materials and their role in creating eco-friendly infrastructure. The seminar highlighted the technical and environmental benefits of using modified bitumen and emulsions over conventional binders, referencing relevant Indian Standards. Discussions also covered cost-effective technologies such as chip sealing, focusing on durability and lifecycle analysis. A core theme of the event was sustainability, stressing the need for responsible construction practices that reduce environmental impact while maintaining road quality. This expert interaction provided students and staff with a contemporary understanding of road construction technologies, fostering a forward-thinking approach to civil engineering.
