Field Visit to Construction Site at Bedi Marketing Yard

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET) organized a field visit to construction site at the Bedi Marketing Yard to observe Whitetopping Pavement Construction. The visit provided third-semester students with practical exposure to the rehabilitation of distressed asphalt surfaces using Portland Cement Concrete (PCC), particularly for areas subjected to heavy static loads. Students observed key construction stages such as surface milling for proper bonding, placement of fiber-reinforced concrete, and early-entry saw cutting to control shrinkage cracks. The visit also highlighted the importance of Quality Assurance practices and adherence to IRC guidelines, helping students connect theoretical knowledge of composite pavement design with real-world construction and quality control.
