Book Talk on "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind"

The Department of Humanities and Science (DIET) organized a book talk on "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind", delivered by Dr. Rushiraj Vaghela for first-year engineering students. The session introduced students to the expansive narrative of human history, tracing developments from the Cognitive Revolution to the contemporary scientific age. The lecture aimed to provoke critical reflection on imagined realities—such as nations, corporations, and belief systems—that shape modern society. By examining the intersection of scientific advancement, economic structures, and ethical responsibility, the talk encouraged students to perceive themselves not merely as future technologists but as conscious participants in shaping humanity’s future. The discussion generated keen interest in the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies, including biotechnology and artificial intelligence, thereby stimulating critical thinking about the broader trajectory of human progress.
