Field Visit to Sun Fly Ash Brick Manufacturing Plant

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIETDS) organized a field visit to the Sun Fly Ash Brick Manufacturing Plant near Parapipaliya Village to provide students with exposure to sustainable construction materials and modern manufacturing practices. The visit involved 37 students. Students observed the complete production process of fly ash bricks, including the use of raw materials such as fly ash, grit, and cement, and the functioning of equipment like pan mixers and hydraulic presses. The step-by-step process from mixing and molding to drying and curing was explained, emphasizing the eco-friendly and cost-effective aspects of fly ash bricks. Through interactions with plant experts during a doubt-clearing session, students linked theoretical concepts with industrial practices and gained insights into quality control and production efficiency.
