The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET) organized a hands-on field workshop at the New 150 ft Ring Road Site, Rajkot, to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. The workshop provided students with direct exposure to real-time field testing and verification procedures in accordance with IRC and MoRTH specifications. Students actively participated in quality control activities using standard instruments for leveling, thickness measurement, gradation analysis, and field density testing through the sand replacement method. The session was further strengthened by expert guidance from professionals of the Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and industry representatives, who shared practical insights into pavement construction practices and material behavior. Overall, the workshop enhanced students’ technical competence in construction quality management and prepared them for professional challenges in the infrastructure sector.
