Contouring and Levelling Survey

  02 Jan 2026

On January 2, 2026, the Civil Engineering Department of the Darshan Institute of Engineering & Technology for Diploma Studies successfully conducted a comprehensive field-based practical activity focused on contouring and levelling. Organized for fourth-semester students, this departmental training took place at Jadeshwar, near Wankaner, providing twenty-eight participants with essential hands-on experience in tacheometry surveying. The primary objective was to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications by training students to operate professional equipment, record precise horizontal and vertical angles, and analyze ground topography. Under expert faculty guidance, students systematically collected field data to determine elevation variations and subsequently developed detailed contour maps. This rigorous exercise not only enhanced their analytical skills in data processing but also reinforced the practical importance of tacheometric surveys in critical civil engineering sectors such as land development and route alignment planning.
