An Expert Talk on Material Selection and Construction Supervision of Flexible Pavement

The Civil Engineering Department of Darshan University successfully hosted a specialized expert talk titled "Material Selection and Construction Supervision of Flexible Pavement" on 11th February, 2026. Conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Ujjval J. Solanki, the session provided over 150 technical staff and officials from the Rajkot Municipal Corporation with critical insights into modern quality control practices. The curriculum emphasized practical applications across various construction stages, including earthwork, bituminous layers, and the precise application of prime and tack coats. Beyond the lecture, participants engaged in a hands-on exploration of the university’s advanced laboratory facilities to observe standard testing procedures for geotechnical investigations and material durability. This departmental initiative served as a vital industry-academia linkage, fostering the adoption of scientific methodologies to ensure the development of sustainable and durable urban road infrastructure. Through such collaborative knowledge sharing, the university continues to strengthen its role in regional technical advancement.
