An lndustrial Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)

The Darshan Institute of Science, DU, organized an industrial visit to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Raiyadhar, Rajkot, to provide students with practical exposure to municipal wastewater treatment and the role of microorganisms in environmental management. During the visit, students observed key treatment stages, including screening, grit removal, sedimentation, aeration, biological treatment, sludge management, and treated water reuse. The Plant In-charge and Chemist explained treatment unit operations, microbial processes, water quality analysis, and environmental compliance. The visit helped students connect theoretical concepts of environmental microbiology and pollution control with practical applications while enhancing their understanding of sustainable wastewater management and environmental protection.
