An Industrial Visit at Wankbori Thermal Power Station

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, DIETDS, organized an industrial visit to Wankbori Thermal Power Station of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) to provide students with practical exposure to thermal power generation and plant operations. During the visit, 28 students, accompanied by two faculty members, observed the electricity generation process and the functioning of major systems, including the coal handling plant, boiler, steam turbine, generator, condenser, cooling tower, ash handling system, and control room. Students also gained insights into plant operations, maintenance practices, automation, industrial safety, and environmental pollution control measures. The visit helped them connect theoretical concepts of thermal engineering with real-world applications and enhanced their understanding of professional practices in the power generation sector.
