High Voltage Engineering is the branch for testing insulating material used in electrical equipment. High Voltage Laboratory has a state of art equipment that can be used in testing of insulating material and study of different High Voltage phenomena. The Laboratory has a capability to produce High Voltage AC (Up to 50 kV), High Voltage DC (Up to 70 kV) and High Voltage Impulse (100kV, 1.2μS-50 μS).
Power systems laboratory is furnished with state of art equipment that is capable to demonstrate the fundamentals of electrical power generation, transmission and distribution. Industrial grade advanced equipments and devices facilitates students to learn and practice the basics of power system design, development, operation, analysis, control and protection.
In house designed and developed laboratory with individual control panel is equipped with L&T, ALSTOM, Schneider Electric, Hitachi, STEAD, Automatic Electric (AE) like world renowned make motor, synchronous generator, transformer, power rheostats, inverter drive, current transformers, potential transformers, relays, switchgears and measuring instruments. Hands on training at various panels bridges the theory part of power system to practical part.
Measurement Laboratory at the department of electrical engineering provides facilities to conduct the performances to measure the various electrical parameters. It includes Maxwell's bridge, Anderson's bridge, Hay's bridge, De Sauty's bridge, Schering's bridge, Owen's bridge, Kelvin's double bridge, Wheatstone double bridge, Thermocouple based ON-OFF controller, Measurement of Temperature using RTD, Extension of range of wattmeter using CT and PT, Measurement of Flow rate by Anemometer, Calibration of meters by various methods, Measurement of Self and mutual inductance, Measurement of Displacement using LVDT.
Basic Electrical Engineering lab provides the fundamental practical aspects of electrical field. The main objective of the laboratory is to make the students familiar with basic concepts which help to understand the electrical engineering in depth.
The laboratory includes the following practical setups Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Law, Measurement of Temperature Coefficient of Different Materials, R-L-C resonance, 1-Ø & 3- Ø Power Measurement, Star – Delta Verification, Wiring Connection Practice, Tube Light Connection, Earthing & Protective Devices.
The computer laboratory offers the support to get understanding of the various softwares used in Electrical Engineering field. It also provides the online learning platform to the students. Video Lectures Library present in each of the system helps the students to get better understanding on the different subjects. The softwares like Keii Development Tools for various microcontrollers, Simulation Software MATLAB, 8085 Simulator, CAD for Electrical Engineers, Moodle- a Course Management System etc. are installed on the systems.
